Encouraged by discussions at recent POF events, the idea has been born to initiate a workshop on modelling / simulation on polymer optical fibers, since a standard theory for  highly multimode fibers is still missing.

There are several approaches, but most of them deal with more or less specific topics and the idea is to explore, what is still needed and is there a way to a unified and broadly accepted description.
We tried to remember all those colleagues who we presumed they are dealing with that subject and tried to get contact to them.
In addition we spread the information via the ICPOF and various national POF organisations.

The result now is that this workshop will take place in Nuernberg / Germany at the POF Application Center and is scheduled for the week after the LASER 2007 in Munich, i.e. 3 days (June 25 - 27) of really hard work (not conference style) on exchanging different approaches from microstructured POF via GI POF to step or multistep fibers.
