Welcome

The members of the international programme committee and the organisers extend a warm welcome to everyone to join us at the 13^th International Plastic Optical Fibres Conference 2004, to share in this great event and to enjoy the fascination of the city of Nürnberg.

Following a tradition of successful events in Europe (1992 and 1996 in Paris, 1993 in The Hague, 1998 in Berlin, 2001 in Amsterdam), in Japan (1994 in Yokohama, 1999 in Chiba, 2002 in Tokyo) and in the United States (1995 in Boston, 1997 on Hawaii, 2000 again in Boston and 2003 in Seattle), POF 2004 in Nürnberg will highlight the latest innovations in this area and the many facets of recent R&D work and industrial activities.

The conference will include all topics of POF applications. The main topic will be the use of Polymer Fibres in home networks. POF 2004 will be colocated with the second national conference for building networks “Net&Home”.

The POF 2004 provides a forum for discussion of the latest research results, new developments of the technology, implementations of systems and practical applications of all aspects of Polymer Optical Fibres, components and polymer waveguides. Designers and new or possible users will find a lot of information about the state of the art and the performance of this advanced technology. The conference will be a meeting point of the world-wide leading experts in this technology.
